Planning for a May Beach Vacation

Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival
This festival will held May 4-5th in nearby Foley, AL at OWA Park and is always a fun event each year. It is family-friendly, features dozens of colorful hot air balloons with local vendors, delicious food and is located at one of the area’s most exciting attractions. OWA Park and OWA Tropic Falls are both great options to check out while attending the event.
The NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship
16 of the country’s best volleyball teams will take to the sand for a competitive tournament and tickets are affordable for day or weekend passes. You can find tickets here.
Concert Season
The Wharf will have so many concerts throughout the summer and May will kickoff the hot list! Kenny Chesney and Kelsea Ballerini, Whiskey Myers and Hank Williams, Jr. are just a few of the stars coming to the area in May. You can get your tickets on the Ticketmaster website.
Billfish Classic
The annual Billfish Classic fishing tournament will take place May 16-21 and you can see the weigh-ins at The Wharf!
Hangout Music Festival
Are you more of a music festival lover? Break out the glitter and hop over to The Hangout May 19-21! You can find the lineup on The Hangout website and there are shuttles from many local areas going to the concerts.
Dine and Shop
A traditional favorite is to relax on the beach for part of the day and then explore the local dining and shopping scene for a break from the sun! Whether you’re staying in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, you’ll find delicious seafood, burgers, BBQ and more at nearby restaurants. There are so many shopping favorites including The Wharf in Orange Beach, SanRoc Cay in Orange Beach, Pelican Place in Gulf Shores and several others.
Memorial Day Weekend
May 27-29th is Memorial Day Weekend and there will be plenty of entertainment planned that weekend from The Flora-Bama to The Wharf, just keep an eye on their websites for updates and specifics as the holiday gets closer.
